We were pleased to see old friends at the Fairtrade coffee morning held on 20 November in the meeting Room despite the need to take precautions to avoid transmission of the Covid virus. People dropped in to buy or order products in time for Christmas. Some of the usual products are sadly not currently obtainable but we were pleased to have had sales of over £90 which will help support producers in poorer parts of the world.

Devizes Quakers met at the war memorial at 3.00pm on Sunday 14 November to lay a wreath of white poppies. We stood in silence for a short time in remembrance of those who have died or suffered in war and conflict.  .

About 18 local Quakers with Friends from nearby meetings and members of the local community met around the market cross to stand in silent solidarity with those already suffering from the effects of climate change and to uphold the delegates of COP26 as they deliberate and make pledges to reduce carbon in the atmosphere. We plan to meet again on 11 November as the conference draws to a close and would be pleased to have others join us.
